The next and most important levels of the Six Sigma belts is the Green belt because most of the work is done by members of this level. Members who hold a green belt are known as bees. It is the members of this level who collate all the data and do most of the experiments and tests to check the cost/benefit ratio. The motto of the green belt is to test the effectiveness of the training process and get on with suitable corrections. As with yellow belt persons who try to qualify for a Green belt must have intimate knowledge of the Six Sigma working and procedures.

The Black belts are the people who are in charge of the projects. These are the people who are solely responsible for the smooth operation of products. They are the people who actually matter since they save a sizable amount for the company. The average saving which a Black belt can accomplish is up to $100,000.  Along with heading the project they also train, develop and advise other managers.

The master black belt is the ultimate level which one can attain in a six sigma training certification. It is very rare to find a master black belt in any company because a master black belt will continue as a black belt even after the completion of a project. It is his job to keep everything running smooth in any company and imparts regular refresher courses to keep the members abreast with new developments in the field of Six Sigma.

A typical yellow belt has complete knowledge of Six Sigma but does not lead assignments on his own. They are tasked with the preparation of the road map for the smooth execution of Six Sigma projects. A yellow belt is also a member of the core team serving a role as an expert on the project. A yellow belt is also involved in many smaller projects or improvement projects. A yellow belt has to initiate projects following what is known as the PDCA method which is the acronym for Plan, Do, Check, Act methodology. PDCA helps the Yellow Belt to identify bottlenecks and initiate remedial action to bring improvement in the performance.

The next ladder after six sigma yellow belt training is the green belt or black belt level where the same objectives i.e. minimize costs are achieved with the DMAIC method. The Six Sigma Yellow Belt training envisages the member to have a better understanding about the basic tools of Six Sigma and process management.
